Neil Newell Founder and CEO

Neil is the co-founder of Ashpool Systems Ltd. (renamed Ashpool Telecom plc in 1999). One year later he built the 'CodaCall' Voice processing system which overcame current difficulties with existing interactive telephony equipment. This resulted, in 1994, in the formation of a joint venture company Unitel which was the CodaCall platform to provide Calling Card Promotional card services.

In 1994 he created interactive and multi-user TV games (such as 'Space Wars') and developed interface systems to TV stations and telephony networks. This led to a joint venture company, Articulate, which produces interactive TV packages comprising graphics, video and sound. During 1997 and 1998 he developed new, higher-capacity CodaCall systems together with in-hose technology for telecoms and Internet related Audio processing.

Neil started work, aged 17, at an electronics supply company leading to work at Pinewood Studios, England and in Hollywood, USA, where he was involved in special effects in movies such as Superman II. He became involved in 1984 in the development of a computerised high-speed rostrum camera system for BBC Digital Stills Store, the first all-digital storage system for television animation.

In 1985 he developed Shades, the first commercially successful multi-user game which ran on the British Telecom 'Prestel' network, and went on to produce technology to make the development of complex, interactive, voice-operated telephone games feasible. In 1991 he developed online information and entertainment services for a leading UK leisure group and developed the installation of real time telephone based share information services connected to the London Stock Exchange.

Neil Newell understands contemporary digital technology and has built a deep understanding of the underlying scientific principles. His personal philosophy is to use his skills to create valuable, useful and commercially successful products and innovations.
